On the cusp of Black History Month and Women's History Month, Black Pearl is celebrating Black women in classical music at the Barnes Foundation's First Friday Event! The evening will open with the flair and majesty of the Lyric Brass Quintet followed by a brief string orchestra selection led by Maestra Johnson. After intermission, flutist Julietta Curenton will offer a scintillating performance of Mozart's D Major flute concerto and the orchestra will literally leave you breathless with a performance of Schubert's charming Symphony No. 5.
